Sophy ridge is an acclaimed Sky News presenter, covering all political subjects. Her show Sophy Ridge on Sunday takes a look at the week’s political news, with high profile guests joining her.
The show first aired in 2017, however, the Sky News brand had moved on some way and had recently rebranded with a refined, premium identity. As Sophy Ridge was returning from maternity leave in 2022, it was the perfect time to elevate her brand and welcome her back to the nations screen.
Along with her core Sunday show, Sophy returned to a brand new show on Wednesday evenings, decrypting the days political news from PMQ’s. This resulted in building a design system that would work across two core shows.
The new brand was built around the word 'Emit' - focusing on creating a identity that shines a light on all political matters. The split of day and night between the two new shows influenced the identity through the use of light and shadows, helping to set the tone for each show with the shadows/lighting changing to reflect the time of day.
The new identity was brought to life through linear TV, digital and social platforms. Each show was given refreshed set designs and soundtracks to match their new look. Sound design was developed in colaboration with sound designer - Simon Hitner.
